I’m Allison, or Allie, I’ll answer to either. I’m a woodturner and maker of things located in the Seattle area. I started woodturning in 2019. Here I’m just documenting some of my work and my progression as an artist.
I’ve always been interested in making things, be it ceramics, brushes, brooms, wooden things, and even hats! And baked goods. All the baked goods. I’m drawn to woodturning because it allows more freedom than flat work. I like that too, but I don’t always have the patience that flat work requires!
Why wooden moon designs? When I first started taking ceramics classes, my instructor suggested we pick a makers mark for the bottom of our pieces, just in case there was more than one Allison. I picked a moon. So in our house, if you want to know if I made something, you just need to look for the moon on the bottom. I figured I should stick with that tradition.
